Mbarara City striker Henry Kitegenyi on verge of joining Express FC

Uganda Premier League side Express FC are in advanced talks with Mbarara City striker Henry Kitegenyi, The-SportsNation sources have learnt.

Kitegenyi, who still has two years remaining on his Mbarara contract, has been training with the Red Eagles at Wankulukuku.

The Red Eagles have identified the burly striker to fill the void left behind by a couple of departures at the club including Eric Kambale and George Ssenkaaba.

Kitegenyi scored five goals in the league last season, a decline from nine he managed in the 2020/21 season.

He has played for Vipers SC and Sadolin before heading to Mbarara City FC.

The Red Eagles have bolstered their squad with some new faces including Anwar Ntege, Joseph Dhata, Andrew Kaggwa, Marvin Oshaba, Hamim Ssemakula and Benjamin Gakumba.

If Henry Kitegenyi leaves Mbarara, he will join a couple of exits including Martin Elungat, Muhammad Ssekeba, Ronald Otti, Bebe Swalik, Makueth Wol, Suleyman Bamba, Pistis Barenge among others.

Mbarara City were relegated from top flight last season and will be hoping to bounce back when the FUFA Big League season gets underway later this year
