The NSSF-KAVC International Volleyball tournament has served off in Lugogo for its 24th edition, and will be climaxing on Sunday in the Indoor Arena.
The tournament returns after a two-year wait, having missed out due to COVID-19.
The Men’s tournament will have a new winner after 2019 champions Homegrown from Kenya who beat Rukinzo (Rwanda), have made the trip to Uganda.
But Nkumba who beat Ndejje University to claim the Women’s Division will be hoping to defend their crown.
The tournament has attracted a couple of foreign teams – Eight in Men and Two in Women – and will be hoping to stun the home sides including hosts KAVC.
NSSF, who has supported the annual event for the past 12 years, are the main sponsors again after bankrolling the event with a tune of Sh70m as they re-emphasised their commitment towards supporting talent.
From Thursday’s Technical meeting, defending champions Nkumba have been pitted in Pool A and will be hoping to finish among the top two to reach the semis.
The Men’s category has attracted 16 teams that have been put into four groups of four.
