Wakiso Giants have confirmed their first signing ahead of the 2022/23 Uganda Premier League season.
The Club have announced goalkeeper Bashir Ssekagya who joins after ending his stay at Kenyan side Wazito.
The former Vipers goalkeeper has signed a two-year deal with an option for a further year, the Club has stated.
“It’s an exciting opportunity for me to continue my growth as a goalkeeper with such an ambitious club and will do all in my abilities to help the club achieve their ambitions,” Ssekagya is quoted by the club.
He is the first acquisition for Coach John ‘Ayala’ Luyinda who was swayed away by his “undoubted talent and potential.”
“He comes with a bit more experience and we believe he will be of value to the squad,” Ayala added.
Ssekagya left Vipers in August 2022 having joined the side from UPDF FC in 2018.
He played an integral part at Kitende when then first choice goalkeeper Isma Watenga went missing as the team went to Tanzania for the CECAFA Kagame Cup in 2018.
Ssekagya also helped Vipers secure a second round spot in the CAF Champions League before he suffered a knee injury against Algeria’s CS Constantine.
He was later loaned out at Proline FC during the 2019/20 season.
Ssekagya, a graduated of KCCA Soccer Academy, also featured for KCCA FC, Hope Doves and Kansai Plascon.
