Sadio Mane retained his Best Male African player gong at the glamorous 2022 CAF Awards on Thursday night in Morocco.
The new Bayern Munich signing was the last man to be crowned Africa’s best player back in 2019, and he on Thursday edged former Liverpool team-mate Mohamed Salah of Egypt and compatriot Edouard Mendy of Chelsea.
He helped Senegal win the 2021 AFCON and qualify for the 2022 FIFA World Cup as well, not to mention an outstanding season at Liverpool where he won the FA Cup, League Cup, second in the League and Champions League runners up.
Mane’s achievement was one of the many that went to Senegal at the awards held at Mohamed VI Technical Centre in Rabat (Morocco).
Terranga Lions tacticain Aliou Cisse was named the Coach of the Year while Tottenham’s Senegalese youngster Pape Matar Sarr Young was also named the African Young Player of the Year.
Senegal was named the Best National Team of the Year.
