World Championships: Nanyondo Through To 1500m Final After Review

Uganda’s Winnie Nanyondo has been qualified in the Women’s 1500m final at the ongoing 2022 World Athletics Championships in Eugene, Oregon (US).

Nanyondo did not finish the semifinals after falling to the track following a push!

Running in the second heat, inside the final bend, Nanyondo was twice shoved by Italian Gaia Sabbatini before she found her way to the ground and was not able to finish the race.

Nanyondo was unconsolable thereafter in a heat that was won by Kenya’s Faith Kipyegon.

The first five and the next two fastest across the two heats advanced to the final.

And Sabbatini was disqualified for her inhuman behaviour.

Following a review later on, the committee ruled that Nanyondo qualifies to the final as a 13th athlete for Tuesday’s epic final at 5:50am.

Elsewhere, Ronald Musagala finished 13th in heat three in a time of 3:40.87 during the Men’s 1500m heats to miss out on a semifinal place.
