Uganda’s middle distance runner Winnie Nanyondo qualified to the semifinals of the 1500m at the ongoing 2022 World Athletics Championships that got underway on Friday at the Hayward field in Eugene, Oregon (United States).
But she just survived a scare after finishing outside the top six in her third heat who earns automatic qualification.

This, is Nanyondo’s third World Championships after London 2017 and Doha 2019.
Peruth Chemutai will be in action later at 8:35pm in 3000m steeplechase heats while Stella Chesang and Mercyline Chelangat will go off in the 10,000m finals at 10:20pm.
