Express FC striker Eric Kambale trained with Al-Merrikh on Monday ahead of his proposed move to the Sudanese giants.
The Congolese intelligent forward is being assessed by Al-Merrikh and will be involved in a club’s friendly match on Wednesday.
A source has told The-SportsNation that Kambale has already impressed the club and a deal may be agreed before the end of this week.
He travelled, alongside Express FC CEO Isaac Mwesigwa and Vipers fullback Joseph Dhata, to Khartoum last week.
Al-Merrikh picked interest in Kambale initially when they met Express in the preliminary round of the CAF Champions League last season.
Then, Kambale scored one of the two goals at Kitende, Martin Kizza with the other goal, as Express beat the Sudanese side 2-1.
He has taken the Uganda Premier League by storm since 2018 when he joined the club from the areas of Kasese and was beaten to the 2019 FUFA Player of the year award by Vipers Midfielder Bobosi Byaruhanga.
