A1 Challenge made a spirited comeback to win 55-53 against Nabisunsa Girls in the National Basketball League encounter at YMCA on Saturday.

A1 scored just one point in the second quarter to trail 26-13 at halftime and were 14 points down going into the last quarter.

But they outlasted Nabisunsa 30-14 in the fourth quarter to win a relegation thrilling affair.

Yaweh Precious (13) and Sandra Ayikoru (10) were the only A1 Challenge players to score in double digits while Kekimuli Cathy added 55 rebounds.

Nabisunsa threw away a commanding lead

Patience Karungi led the way with 20 points and 16 rebounds for Nabisunsa who will feel hard done by the manner in which they threw away a commanding lead.

It’s revenge best served by A1 who lost 64-58 to Nabisunsa in their opening game of the season.

A1 Challenge who out rebounded Nabisunsa 70-51, have won three games this season – Both of their two previous wins came against another relegation candidate Nkumba Marines.

It’s the 10th loss for Nabisunsa Girls who have two wins – one against A1 and the other against Magic Stormers – and it can’t get any worse ahead of their next match against unbeaten JKL Lady Dolphins on June 26.
