Former KCCA FC coach Mike Hillary Mutebi has opened up on his failed short stint at AS Kigali in Rwanda.
Mutebi joined AS Kigali in January 2022 coming out of a sabbatical he had opted for after leaving the Kasasiro boys in March 2021 but his spell was cut short after just two months at the Kigali-based side.
He has now dubbed his move to Rwanda as a ‘mistake’ he regrets taking in his career.
Mutebi said that AS Kigali had a couple of aged players and claimed that it’s one of the problems he faced as he tried to build a new team of young players with a ‘unique style of play.’
“It was an accident by me to join AS Kigali,” Mutebi told NBS during the Morning Show.
“I found a lot of old players. I did not do enough research about the players at the club but as a coach alongside my assistant Jackson Mayanja, we tried to make things right but we were never appreciated by the management.”
He added: “I tried to do things right but the management was not appreciative and the two months I spent there I never enjoyed them.” Said Mike Mutebi.
Mutebi who penned down a two years deal, only managed to stay at the club 13 times – winning three games and seven draws. He is currently back in the country and open to all any other coaching offers besides returning to KCCA FC!
“If I am approached by an club I am available to do what I can do better but my chapter at KCCA FC is closed case I will not return there,”Mutebi concluded.
