Crested Cranes: Nalukenge Headlines List Of Dropped Players

The crested cranes head coach George William Lutalo has yet again trimmed his squad in camp ahead of 2022 Africa Women Cup of Nations in Morocco.

Juliet Nalukenge is one of the seven players dropped for not impressing in the recently concluded CECAFA tournament alongside UCU Lady cardinals defender Shadia Nankya who is still suffering from a knee injury.

Natasha Shiraz, Biira Nadunga, Grace Aluka and Samalie Nakachwa have all been dropped due to the competitiveness in the squad.

They join the list of earlier dropped players of Viola Namuddu, Harima Kanyago, Miriam Ibunyu, Naome Nagadya, Resty Nanziri and Juliet Adeke who were all dropped after the CECAFA tournament.

Goalkeeper Hadijah Nalongo also losses her place on the team after the arrival of team captain Ruth Aturo who jetted in the country on Saturday evening.

Aturo now completes the list of three goalkeepers that will make the AWCON squad ahead of Daisy Nakaziro and Vanessa Karungi.

The other foreign-based players will meet up with the team in Morocco.

The squad is likely to be trimmed once again before travelling to Morocco where they will have a friendly with Feminine Phoenix a club in the Moroccan league on Saturday 25th.

The team is expected to depart Uganda on Tuesday.

The Crested cranes are pitted in group A along side hosts Morocco, Senegal and Burkina Faso as they will see their first game in AWCON on July against Senegal.
