Rugby Cranes 15s coach Fred Mudoola has named the final squad that will represent Uganda at the 2023 Rugby World Cup Qualifiers.
The 28-man team will be flying out soon before the tournament gets underway in France due July 1-10.
Eleven (11) players have been dropped (some due to injuries) from the team that has been preparing for the Qualifiers including Heathens trio of Reynolds Kato, Alex Mubiru and Aziz Khan.
KOBs quartet of Saul Kivumbi, Jude Juuko, Arthur Mpande and Emmanuel Ecodu have been released as well.
Pirates’ Kabagambe Ivan will miss the trip alongside three Jinja Hippos players Isaac Rujumba, Taufiq Bagalana and Denis Etwau.
Uganda will be facing Kenya Simbas in the quarterfinals of the Qualifiers.
The other quarterfinal matches will see Namibia take on Burkina Faso, Zimbabwe meet Ivory Coast while Senegal face Algeria.
Winner of the qualification tournament will earn a direct ticket to the 2023 World Cup that will also be hosted next year in France.
That team will directly be pitted in group A that has hosts France, New Zealand, Italy and the Americas 1 qualifier.
The Runner-up at the qualification tournament will have a chance to the final global Qualifiers of the World Cup.
