Uganda’s national Women Cricket team, the Victoria Pearls beat hosts Rwanda by 6 wickets in their opening game of the 2022 Kwibuka Tournament.
The win was built on strong bowling that saw Rwanda limited to just 68 runs all out with the trio of Evelyn Anyipo (2-17), Consy Aweko (2-12) and Sarah Akiteng (2-12) picking two wickets each.

Only Vumiliya Margueritte and Marie Diane Bimenyimana scored in double figures with the bat for Rwanda, hitting 16 and 12 respectively, before they were both run out as Rwanda struggled to forge a partnership.
Needing 69 in 20 overs for a win, Uganda got off to a poor start when Leona Babirye was caught by Fiona Irakoze inside the second over, but Gloria Abukor hit 34 runs not out to get Uganda to the finished line with 6 overs to spare.
Janet Mbabazi scored 19 runs in another commendable show having helped Uganda win the Nepal series last month.
Uganda, seeking to improve their Global ranking, will return to action on Friday against Kenya.
