Daglas Oyirwoth: How COVID-19 Hindered a Dream Move to Club Brugge

Oyirwoth Daglas is one of the players who cries foul of the COVID-19 Pandemic after his dream move to Belgium Pro League side Club Brugge in 2019 was ruined.

Oyirwoth who had a successful season in the Left-back position at his new side UPDF FC revealed in an exclusive interview with The SportsNation.

Oyirwoth says that it was Coach Brian Ssenyondo who had taken him to Belgium.

“He took me there through the connections he has and my things were in process and boom corona came and complicated everything,” Oyirwoth said.

“I trained with them for almost a month and my contract was in process but things were messed up due to COVID-19 and I had to come back to Uganda.”

The Left-back joined UPDF from Mbarara City this concluded season and he says they tried their best since most players were making their maiden season in the top flight.

“It was a wonderful season according to me since we had many players from Regional League and others from Masaza Cup but they managed the league though it was there first time” Oyirwoth narrates.

The former Mbarara City Leftback says they hoped for better and they failed to achieve their targets.

“Our aim was to finish the league in 3rd position unfortunately we didn’t make it but we hope for the best next season”.

“I was used to winning and we reached a time when even getting a draw was so hard for us, we went almost 13 games without a win, it was a challenge for us yet we had started the season well”.
