Yunus Sentamu will finally join Uganda Cranes team for 2023 AFCON Qualifiers, Coach Milutin Micho Sredejovich has confirmed.
The Vipers striker was left of the initial squad of 33 Uganda Cranes players summoned to start preparations for Algeria and Niger matches due next month.
The decision raised eye-brows after the player had made a good account of himself scoring 20 goals (14 league and 6 Uganda Cup) in the 2021/22 season.
Yunus was the league’s top scorer in 2020/21 season, with 16 goals.

However, it is said that he has himself to blame after he has recently showed disinterest in the National team during recent summonings.
But coach Micho has walked back on the decision to leave him out, saying that he is to meet the striker and have him reinstated.
“Yunus Sentamu is like my football son,” noted Micho. “He is absolutely in contention, he has been with us throughout.”
“However, due to his personal changed, he has requested to be in. And having it in mind that we need him so much, we are supposed to meet and have him back.”
The team started their preparations with a Gym session held at Fast Fusion indoor facility in Bugoloobi on Monday.
Ibrahim Juma, Travis Mutyaba, Oscar Mawa, Emmanuel Kalyowa, Saidi Kyeyune and Denis Otim who were not part of the initial squad summoned were called up to train with the team.
Micho added: “We are in a complex situation since league’s have just ended and we need to keep these players in competitive match fitness.”
“This week, we need to prepare very well together with other players coming in so that we collect the best possible squad to prepare for the crucial Qualifiers against Algeria away and Niger at home.”
