It was a huge day for team Uganda after clinching two golds out of their four won on Thursday at the ongoing 2022 ISF World School Sport Games in France.
Loice Chepkwemoi and Maureen Chebet won gold in 2000m steeplechase and 800m respectively.
Priscilla Akello (2000 Girls) and Dolphine Chelimo (2000m Boys) won bronze each on Thursday.
Uganda’s medal count now stands at five (2 gold, 1 silver and 2 bronze).
Victor Cherotich had earlier won Uganda’s first medal, Silver, in the 3000m.
Chebet came 2:09.56 in 800m to fend off resistance from India’s Laxita Vino Sandilea to win gold. Priscilla Akello finished with a time of 2:11:30 to come third.
Chepkwemoi clocked 6:36.62 in 2000m, ahead of Melissandre Daydan and Aurelia Stefania who settled for Silver and Bronze in that order.
Chelimo, in the 2000m, clocked 5:49.54 to win bronze as Osama Alawi (Morocco) a d Sergio Barrio (Spain) won gold and bronze respectively.
Abel Chebet (6:10.71) finished a close sixth but missed out on the podium places.
