She Cranes Head Coach Ssalongo Fred Mugerwa Tabale has named a provisional squad of 30 players ahead of the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham due July this year.
The team has two professional based players – Captain Peace Proscovia (Surrey Storm) and Mary Nuba Cholhok (Loughborough Lightning) who both ply their trade in England.
Mugerwa confirmed that the team’s training will get underway on Sunday, 22nd May 2022 at Kamwokya Community Sports Centre.
He is quoted: “We are going to start with non residential training, going to have two sessions, morning and evening and then we shall have a residential training for two to three weeks before heading to Birmingham.”
A couple of players have been summoned as a reward for their recent form both in the league and East African Netball Championship.
Weyonje’s Wing Defender Shakira Nassaka is part of the team after she was named the league’s MVP.

Rachael Nanyonga, Stella Oyella, Lilian Ajio, Joan Nampungu, Stellah Nanfuka and Proscovia are some of the players on the squad that played at the 2018 Commonwealth games in Gold Coast (Australia).
Uganda, in group B with England, New Zealand, Malawi, Trinidad and Tobago and Northern Ireland, will be seeking for an improved performance having finished sixth in Gold Coast.
