•NIC vs Tamisani – 1:30pm
•Prisons Vs KCCA – 3pm
Three of the four Ugandan teams that entered the 2022 East Africa Netball Championship have made it to the Semifinals.
NIC, Prisons and KCCA are in the last four at the tournament that also attracted teams from Tanzania and Zanzibar.
UPDF were denied a ticket to the semis after Thursday’s 38-47 defeat to Tanzania’s Tamisemi at the ongoing event at Kamwokya Community Sports Centre.
The defeat left UPDF third in Group B with just two points as Tamisemi joined KCCA to qualify out of the group to knockout.
NIC who topped Group A with maximum points after beating Prisons in a pulsating game on Thursday, will face off with Group B runners up Tamisani.
In the other semifinal, Prisons meet KCCA in an all Uganda affair.
“I blame the umpires for our loss against NIC,” said Prisons coach Imelda Nyongesa.
“We competed very well in the first and second quarter, but then one of the umpires decided to give calls against us.
“NIC shooter was the one fouling our defenders but to my surprise, the calls went against us.”
Nyongesa however said that if her players come with the right mentality, they will be able to beat KCCA in the semis.
