KCCA Netball Club got off the mark at the ongoing East Africa Netball Championship at the Kamwokya Sports Center in Kampala.

They beat Uganda’s UPDF NC 67-24 in a dominant show they led from start to finish

But it was new signing Hanisha Muhammad that stood out for KCCA after the former UCU player scored 42 goals on her debut.

“It’s very unfortunate I have not trained for a long time with the team but I think I played my best, of course the players are very consistent I will say for the whole game, a few flaws in my game but I think I did my best,” Hanisha said after the game.

“UCU is an amazing institution but when you look at KCCA at how they are structured, the players how intentional they are; you can tell that they are a good side and am looking forward to improving my game and help the team because they have particular goals they want to achieve.”

Goal Shooter Hanisha is one of the three new players unleashed by KCCA as they seek to win this year’s tournament.

Wing Attacker Fortunate Ngabiroch joined from Luwero Ugx while Jackson Jesca who started from the bench is the other new signing.

Jesca last played for NIC but she has been without a club on joining KCCA.

“The team played well today, the way you saw it, we fielded some of our new signings and we can go ahead and compete in this tournaments,” said KCCA NC Coach Fred Mugerwa.

“We came to compete, and obviously our aim is to win.”

Mugerwa, who doubles as the She Cranes coach added: “The New signings also played well, and I am satisfied with their effort. We had a problem in our shooting, and the addition of Hanisha is a big boost.”

KCCA led 17-7 after the guest quarter, and later limited UPDF to just three goals in second and fourth quarter to take a commanding win.

The are in Group B alongside UPDF, JKU and Tamiseni and will fancy their chances to go far in this regional competition.
