•Women: Angels 66-70 KIU Rangers (Overtime)
•Men: KIU Titans 65-74 Nam Blazers

Nam Blazers ended their two-game losing streak with a 74-65 win over KIU Titans in a Tusker-Lite sponsored NBL thriller at Lugogo.

The Blazers came into the game on the back of losses against UPDF Tomahawks and UCU Canons.

And they quickly made their intentions known very early when they led the first quarter 27-17.

But Titans gave themselves a fighting stance when Henry Okoth scored a corner three to move within a point going into the fourth quarter.

Mohammed Abdikani laid up as KIU started the fourth strongly, but after the lead exchanged hands on a couple of occasions, Nam Blazers closed it out with a 13-2 run.

Nam Blazers handed new addition Ariel Okall Koranga his much awaited debut after the Kenyan jetted into the Country recently.

But he struggled to influence the game in a way he would have wanted – His 14 minutes produced just four points, five rebounds and three assists before he fouled out!

Amisi ‘Carmelo’ Saidi led the way with 24 points and 13 rebounds, Paul Odong and Daniel Najja Juuko added 14 and 10 rebounds respectively.

Paul ‘McGyver’ Odong was the Tusker-Lite Player of the match.

Edgar Munaaba’s 21-point and 15-rebound double double proved not enough for KIU Titans who succumbed to their fourth loss of the season.

Henry Okoth and Michael Otieno had 12 and 10 points in that order in a loosing effort.

The KIU franchise however found solace in their Women’s team, although the Rangers needed overtime to overcome a Tonny Drilleba-coached Angels.

Sharon Kirabo scored a double double of 17 points and 11 rebounds as Rogers Sserunyigo’s KIU Rangers survived a scare.

Saturday’s league action was called off after the unavailability of YMCA court, and the teams protested against the suggestion of playing at UCU in Mukono under short notice.

The League returns on Sunday at Lugogo with five games on the card.
