Gaddafi FC thumped relegated Tooro United 7-0 in the Startimes Uganda Premier League match played at the Gaddafi Arena in Jinja.
Striker Richard Basangwa, on loan from Vipers, scored an hat-trick for the Eastern-based Soldier Boys.
Alex Kitata put the hosts ahead as early as the 3rd minute in a game Gaddafi dominated from the start.
Steven Munguchi also registered his name on the score sheet in the 22nd minute before Basangwa scored his first in the 30th minute.
In the second stanza, Gaddafi FC pilled more misery on the fort Portal based side – Ronald Bithum scored to make it four for the hosts in the 75th minute of the game before completing his brace in the 87th minute.
Bithum’s 87th goal came after Basangwa’s brace in the 79th and 84th minute.
A win has ensured that Gaddafi FC has now moved closer to safety – 10th position with 31 points, with a six-point gap above the relegation zone.
For the visitors, Tooro United, they seem to be playing just to complete their league fixture having already confirmed their relegation to the second division.
They have now conceded the highest number of goals – They have let in 66 goals, and bottom of the table in 16th position with just 10 points gathered.
What Next
Gaddafi will return to action as they host KCCA FC at home on the 14th and later climax their league in the Busoga derby away from home against Busoga United.
Tooro United will face off with Mbarara City and URA FC respectively in their two remaining fixtures.
