Resty Nanziri scored a second half brace as Kampala Queens picked a hard fought draw against tricky Uganda Martyrs at Lugaba to go top on the log, where they lead by a goal difference.

Despite trailing 2-0 at the break, at expense of Latifah Nakasi and Anitah Namata, the Soccer Queens produced a brilliant performance in the second half.

Martyrs who gave away the lead at home in second straight game now, remain 3rd with 24 points, two behind new leaders Kampala Queens.

Hosts started the game with serious caution, enjoying the highest possession which immediately paid off in 18th minute when Nakasi benefited from Kwatulira’s poor defending who misscontrolled the ball to expose goalie Prima whom Nakasi calmly beat to push hosts in the lead.

Eight minutes later, again Visitors defence switched off when they failed to clear the ball out of danger as Namata benefited from the loose ball to loop Prima in the left top corner to double Martyrs lead.

Just before half time, Nagadya had a chance to extend the lead when she disposessed Namubiru inside the box but Prima reacted too quickly do deny her effort.

At the restart, Nanziri dragged the visitors back into the game when he benefited from corner kick rebound to beat Nakaziro at far post with a fine finish.

In 58th minute, The Queens levelled matters when Nanziri tapped in Lillian Mutuuzo’s well laid ball to complete her brace.

The Visitors kept up the pressure going forward while the hosts struggled to penetrate again.

At the death of the game, hosts nearly restored their lead but Nakanjako’s free header off Nalumu’s corner kick went few inches wide at near post to end the game at 2-2.

Uganda Martyrs will pay a long trip to play FC Tooro Queens in thier next fixture while Kampala Queens will host Rines.
