Ndejje Elites captain Linda Jepkirui admits that it was not easy path en-route to this season’s National Volleyball League title.
Ndejje are the 2022 National Volleyball League Women Champions after overcoming Vision Volleyball Camp (VVC) 3-1 to win at Old Kampala Arena.
The Elites had to come from a game down before clinching the title.
“I am short of words,” started Jepkirui. “I want to thank God because it has not been an easy journey, we have fallen but we have managed to wake up when we needed it most.”
Ndejje took the first set 25-23 before forcing deuce with the second and eventually taking it 27-25.
The third set was a walk in the park for VVC as they won it 25-10, but they recovered to win the fourth 26-24 and in the process seal their fifth league title.
“We lost the first game but it didn’t put us off, we had to come back for the second game, and the third game also. It wasn’t that easy but we hanged in there and managed to come out victorious.
“Our season has been difficult, we had to call our selves up, we knew it will not be a straight path, we lost our main player that is Nadia, but that didn’t put us down.”
Ndejje won 10 of 12 games to top the Women’s Serie A. They then eliminated KCCA in the semis to storm the finals.

They had earlier beaten KCCA in the finals of the Volleyball Championship held in Kabale.
And Jepkirui has termed the season as a “success.”
Coached by Ronald Kitosi, recently a player at the Ndejje Men side, Jepkirui says that we had to “respect” him as a young coach and got used to that.
On future plans, the captain added: “We need to get more players to back the team since most of us are old now.”
It’s the first league title for four-time winners since 2016, who also won the league in 2012 and 2013.
