University Football League: Kisubi Beat Muni For First Win

Muni University 1-3 University of Kisubi

University of Kisubi eased past Muni University to win their first match of the University Football League in Arua.

Goals from Xerxious Kibirige, Tumusiime Frank and Kateregga Lawrence inspired Unik past Muni University whose only goal was scored by Odongo Simon who also missed from the spot.

UniK bounce back from a 2-0 home loss to MUBS in their first match of the season.

Muni University have now lost their opening two matches after a 2-0 away defeat to Nkumba University in the opener.

Muni started Brightly with Rahim hitting his effort wide for the first chance of the game after an early pressure from the hosts.

Five minutes after the hosts failed to utilise their early chance, Xerxious Kibirige broke the deadlock for UniK with a powerful long range freekick past the Goalkeeper after the Shotstopper failed to punch the ball as early as 10 minutes.

The hosts stormed the visitors box with a number of attempts but they couldn’t find the back of the net with both Ndeni and Odongo coming close to level the tie.

On the otherside, Ainamani could have doubled the visitors lead but his header was too high before he ballooned a long range strike.

In the 42nd minute, Odongo could have equalised for the hosts from the spot but his low penalty kick was easily saved by Goalkeeper Mulindwa John Bosco after Nkalubo had handled the ball in the area.

The first chance of the second half fell to the hosts after Acidri Jamal attempt on target was saved by Goalkeeper Mulindwa.

In the 49th minute, Odongo Simon equalised for the hosts with a powerful shot from 28 yards past Mulindwa to make amends for his saved penalty.

The visitors went looking for a quick response but Goalkeeper Ocen stood tall to stop Tumusiime shot after a flick from Ainamani corner.

Odongo and Ogen Mick David came close to giving the hosts the lead but they couldn’t get their attempts on target.

In the 67th minute, Tumusiime Frank restored the visitor’s lead after the hosts failed to utilise their chances.

The visitor’s backline was equal to every task by the host’s not allowing them any shot at goal.

With nine minutes to the end of the game, Kateregga Lawrence made it three for UniK to seal the win and end the hosts hope of an equaliser in the 81st minute.

The hosts couldn’t settled for less and kept on taking the ball to the visitors after Apensuthwroth found Odongo whose shot was saved for a corner but from the resultant corner, Acidri header went wide from Mungungi delivery.

UniK moves to second of Group B with 3 points after two matches while Muni University are bottom without a point after 2 matches.
