Substitute Catherine Nagadya’s late penalty kick rescued a point for Uganda Martyrs against table leaders She Corporates in their 2-2 draw in a FUFA Women super League encounter played at Lubaga.

Susan Atim’s 30th minute strike and Phiona Nabumba 58th minute goal had cancelled Martyrs’ lead who had gone ahead through Kevin Nakacwa in the 20th minute.

In an evenly contested encounter, characterised by fewer chances, Uganda Martyrs had the first say when Nakacwa benefit from her own corner kick loose ball to beat goalkeeper Nyayenga at far post to hand host the lead in 20th minute.

Ten minutes later, Atim with ease tapped in Regina Nantege’s teasing cross to level matters.

Five minutes to half time, Shamusa Nalujja would have reclaimed Martyrs’ lead but her close effort from Namata’s corner was denied by Nyayenga to end first half at one a piece.

The restart saw host introducing new four changes of Nagadya, Nalumu, Nakanjako and Namusoke who helped them enjoy possession but failed to create clear cut chances to beat visitors defence line.

In 58th minute, the Visitors utilized their only chance when Naume Nagadya’s through ball, caught Martyrs’ defence off guard to meet running Nabumba who did no mistake when she beat goalkeeper Kaidu to put the visitors in the lead.

Uganda Martyrs had a chance to level but Sumaiyah Nalumu’s free kick at the edge of the box in 82nd minute was punched out into a corner.

At the death, Nagadya leveled matters from a penalty following Swabula’s foul on Latifah Nakasi in forbidden area.

The results saw Visitors maintain their unbeaten run, however points dropped, reduced their point lead at the summit to two points following Kampala Queens win against Kawempe which leapfrogged Uganda Martyrs into second.

Uganda Martyrs, now third on 26 points, in another banger, will host Kampala Queens in their next fixture.

She corporate, top on 26 points, will travel to Masindi to play defending Champions Lady Doves.
