Absa Bank has improved their sponsorship package for this year’s Captain Bell Tournament.
The developments were revealed on Thursday ahead of the tourney at Uganda Golf Club due May 5-7 2022.
The new package is Sh57.8m an increment from the Sh30m injected last year.

“This further cements our relationship with the Uganda Golf Club and golf fraternity in general,” said Absa Managing Director Mumba Kalifungwa.
“Over the years, we have enjoyed a mutually rewarding relationship with the Uganda Golf Club given our joint commitment and support towards the development of the game of golf in Uganda.
“This year, we are once again coming on board as the official sponsor of the Captain’s Bell Tournament, which is a testament to just how important this club, this tournament and this game are to us as a Bank.
“Our purpose as Absa is to bring possibilities to life, and one of the ways we continue to do this is through being a strong and proud proponent of sports in Uganda, in Africa and on the world stage.
“Through the years, we have invested and been proud partners of golf through sponsorship of tournaments, most notably the Uganda Golf Open to support the development of sporting talent.”

The Captain’s Bell Tournament ushers in a new management committee at the Uganda Golf Club.
The new committee is led by Captain Emmanuel Wamala and his Vice-Captain Paul Fitzgerald Nuwagaba.

About 400 professionals, including Defending champion Ronald Rugumayo, will play for a kitty of Sh10m on Thursday 5th and Friday 6th.
The tournament will attract over 200 amateurs and seniors who will play on Saturday 7th.

“We shall have it as a medal event which is the gold standard and that will be the format of play,” said Uganda Golf Club Competitions Secretary Paul Rukundo.
“This is the prestigious Captain’s Bell, the captain is the number one at this club, we have got a board of Trustees, then the committee that runs this club, then the management below us that does the operations. When there is an exchange of power.
“Then we have the Captain’s Bell which recognizes the outgoing management committee and the incoming one. That’s why it’s so special to members and the Club.”
The tournament will send of the outgoing captain Patrick Billy, Vice-Captain/Course Secretary Dr Alex Coutinho and their committee.
