Lower Division: YMCA Teams Withdrawn From Ongoing Season

YMCA management has pulled out it’s teams – YMCA Hamsters (Men) and YMCA Lady Hamsters (Women) from the ongoing FUBA Lower Division season.

Both teams were in playing in Division One, a tier below the National Basketball League.

The decision came on Wednesday, on the eve of the teams’ games – The men’s team was supposed to face Bushcourt while the Ladies were going to play JT Lady Jaguars at YMCA Court in Wandegeya.

The Management has said in a statement: “We wish to bring to your attention that YMCA Basketball teams will not participate in this year’s league due to ill preparedness and lack of enough players to make up these teams. We regret the decision but inevitable.”

“We hope we shall prepare and recognize our teams in order to participate next year for the 2023 League.

“We are sorry for any inconveniences that has put the Federation and the Fraternity at large.”

The shocking decision comes after one weekend of Lower division basketball.

The Men’s side had played two games, a 71-52 loss against Rezlife Saints and a 73-59 win over Kampala University.

The Lady Hamsters had played one game, falling 42-33 to Watoto.

The development leaves 14 Men and six Women teams in Division One.
