City Oilers Shooting Guard Tonny Drilleba garnered a team high 21 points to help his side return to winning ways with a hard fought win over JKL Dolphins in a Tusker Lite sponsored NBL tie at Indoor Arena in Lugogo.

Drilleba who was 5-of-11 from deep, shot two deep threes in the last quarter as Oilers tried to widen their advantage down the stretch.

Ivan Lumanyika bagged a double double of 15 points and 18 rebounds as Oilers held on against a JKL Dolphins side that died fighting.

Cheered on by a section of fans, JKL scored 15 points in each of the first three quarters to tie the game 45-all going into the last quarter.

But Oilers thrived on Drilleba’s class and quick ball movement to get an edge in a game that saw both sides shoot blanks in the opening four minutes of the first quarter.

Malual Dier was a joy to watch, contributing a game high 22 points after shooting 10-of-17 from the field while Mabor Maker, with 11 points, was the other JKL player to reach double figures.

Oilers who return to winning ways after falling to UCU Canons, have recorded their sixth win from eight games.

It’s the sixth loss for JKL Dolphins this season, but the number may not get overwhelming in the near future if they can replicate Wednesday’s performance.

Martin Buluma (20), Emmanuel Odongkara (19) and Daniel Gaaki (12) were outstanding as Brian Wathum’s KCCA Panthers blew out Brian Rugyendo’s Tropical Royals in the first game 88-66.
