BUL FC visit SC Villa in the Stanbic Uganda cup quarter final round at FUFA Technical Centre in Njeru for a spot in the semifinals.
BUL FC head coach Alex Isabirye has dubbed it a ‘tough’ game as they welcome the most decorated club in Ugandan football.
“We play SC Villa in the Uganda Cup and we know that they are one of the most successful clubs in the competition with 9 Uganda cup titles,” said coach Isabirye.
“It’s going to be a tough game but our target is to win and proceed to the next round.”
The gaffer confirmed that they miss two players who are out injured – Simon Peter Oketch and goalkeeper Saidi Keni.
BUL FC were runners up in the 2021 Uganda cup finals after losing to Vipers and they look set to replicate the 2021 memories as they eliminated Proline on the quarterfinals before edging Express FC to reach to the finals.
They eliminated Busoga United in the round of 32 and Bright Stars on the round of 16 to reach the quarter finals where they face SC Villa.
SC Villa who are fighting relegation in the league, seated in the 10th position with 28 points just four above the drop zone, will seek to find solace in the domestic cup.
The Jogoos have had a brilliant performance in the Uganda cup as they hunt for the 10th tittle, they eliminated Express FC and Onduparaka respectively in the round of 32 and the round of 16.
They face a huge test against BUL FC who look set to return to the finals which they lost to Vipers in 2021.
The winner against BUL FC and SC Villa will join Booma United who eliminated Maroons by a 2-1 score and Vipers SC who progressed to the semifinals after defeating Wakiso Giants on a 3-1 score.
The other semifinal spot will be contested between Mbarara City and Mbale Heroes on Wednesday at Kakyeka stadium.
