Absa, the leading bank in Uganda, gave back to it’s customers on Saturday during a Premier League titanic clash between Arsenal and Man United on Saturday.

The bank treated fans to a VIP premier league treatment in a colourful event at the Sheraton Hotel in Kampala.

It is strong to note that Absa is the Official African Banking Partner of the Premier League.

Jerome Juuko was the biggest winner of the day after he walked away with a Sony TV and Soundbar after championing in the Absa Bank Card Assist Campaign.

The campaign was aimed at encouraging Absa customers to transact more using the contactless Absa Cards.

“I am very thankful to Absa,” started an excited Juuko who was almost reduced to tears of joy.

“This is a great recognition, I won this after garnering the most card transactions when I used my Visa cards, it’s very convenient and easy going. I became their customer about a year and half ago, and have never regretted. Thank you Absa Bank. This means a lot to me.”

A couple of lucky fans also walked away with Absa hampers.

“We are proudly associated with the English Premier League, we know the passion of our customers and this is event is one of the ways to reward our customers, we are giving you back using the things you want,” said Samuel Kiyaga, the head of Alternate Channels Absa Bank Uganda.

Absa Bank undertook the campaign after studying the behavior of its customers, then they realized that the usage of cards was going up daily and there was a need for customers to be safe.

In December 2021, the bank launched the Card Assist Campaign across the African Continent, aimed at encouraging its customers to make more transactions with their cards as well as keeping them safe from COVID-19 since the cards are contactless because they would not get in touch with anyone physically.

At the end of the campaign, the customer who had made the most transactions using their contactless card was to win a VIP Premier League experience to watch a football match.

The event, where renown media personality Andrew Kabuura was the host, saw fans interact with Africa and Nigeria football legend Jay Jay Okocha about the Arsenal 3-1 win over rivals Man United.

Nuno Tavares, Bukayo Saka and Granit Xhaka were on target for Arsenal as the Gunners improved their hopes of finishing in the top four while Christiano Ronaldo’s goal proved not enough for Man United who saw Bruno Fernandes miss from spot and all but end their Champions League qualification hopes.
