Uganda Cup: Wakiso Giants Stand In Vipers Path To Semi final

Vipers SC will be seeking to progress to the Semi finals of this year’s Stanbic Uganda Cup when they visit another UPL side Wakiso Giants on Sunday.

The two sides will be meeting at the Quarter final stage of this competition in a game set to be played at Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium.

The Venoms, who won the Uganda cup Last year, have a chance to win a double this season for the first time in their club history. In the league, they are on top with 61 points, and are two points away from being crowned Champions.

Speaking ahead of the game, Vipers head coach Robertinho Oliveira expressed the team’s readiness and is hopeful they will the get the job done against the Purple Sharks.

“We have prepared very well for this game and am very happy because of the organization, we have built our team, our group and it is very important for me. Yes our objective as Vipers is to win every game,” he told the club’s media on Saturday.

To reach this far, Vipers beat Big league Side Kataka FC by 3-0 at the round of 16 in a game held at Kitende last month.

Inform forward and current league top scorer Ceaser Manzoki, who has 16 goals on his name will once again be tasked to carry his scoring boots on Sunday to lift the Venoms.

Wakiso Giants on the other hand will have all eyes on going past the Quarter finals in this year’s competition.

Last season, the Purple Sharks were eliminated at the Quarter final stage by Police FC.

Against Vipers, they face a defending champion and they will they have to give their all if they are advance to the next stage.

Wakiso Giants only worry will be the two losses they have suffered in the last two league games, each coming against Express and Bright Stars recently.

But this being a knock out stage and playing at their home, the Giants will all go out for a much needed result against Vipers.
