Uganda’s Women Cricket team, the Victoria Pearls, suffered their third loss from as many games at the ongoing Capricorn series in Windhoek, Namibia.
Chasing 127, Uganda eventually choked with 105 to lose by 22 runs.
A 63-run partnership between Shaun Mayers (36) and Josephine Nkomo (43 not out) was the difference between the two sides as the pair repaired the damage that had seen them reduced to 49/4 inside 10 overs.
Patricia Malemikia gave the Victoria Pearls a good start as he ripped through the Zimbabwe top order with two quick wickets to finish with figure of 2/15 in her 4 fours.
Zimbabwe could have gotten more in their last three overs but Phiona Kulume did a good job keeping it tidy as the lady Chevrons posted a competitive 127/5.
In the chase Kevin Awino started the chase like a house on fire as she took the game to Zimbabwe but her over aggression led to her downfall.
Janet Mbabazi (43 not out) carried the innings from thereon despite losing wickets around her.
The Victoria Pearls slowed down in the middle overs and that led to them falling behind the asking and in the end ran out of overs with a deficit of 22 runs.
A third loss for the Victoria Pearls but the performance with the ball and field still very good and it’s the batting that has not clicked yet.
They will play their 4th game tomorrow afternoon aganist Namibia.
