Booma 2-1 Maroons.
Kitara region league side Booma FC has continued their impressive run with a 2-1 win over Big league side Maroons to book a spot in semi finals of the Stanbic Uganda Cup.
In a one leg quarter finals played at Masindi Municipal Stadium, Ashiraf Ali handed host the lead just before half time.
In the final 10 minute Maroons came back into the game with an equalizer through Fred Amaku.
At the death of the game, Denis Omendi punished hiss former side to send the home fans into wild celebrations when he converted Aldrine Kambale’s delivery to send Booma into their maiden semi final.
Booma may not be guaranteed of a trophy but they are at least now sure of 12 million Shilling after progressing to the semi finals while maroons will Bank Sh6m in prize money.
For the hosts who started the tournament in preliminary rounds, playing four rounds before knock out stages, its indeed a fairy tale and having conceded only one goal since round of 64, sums it all about how well they have performed.
In a game of high intensity in a sunny Masindi, visitors would have felt disappointed if they had missed on semis having wasted two clear chances which landed on Asiimwe at the restart when he missed a goal keeper to beat and Omendi free header which lacked power and routinely saved by Akol.
For visitors will feel betrayed by Fred Amaku who mis fired on two clear second half inside first half.
Walusimbi too, had a chance for an equalizer in 70th minute but he was not sharp enough to beat Azungu before substitute Substitute William Kiibi close range effort directed few inches wide.
