Preview: Express Seek to Extend Good Run.

Express coach James Odoch

Express FC will be seeking to extend their fine form in the league when they host Onduparaka at Wankuluku on Friday.

The Red Eagles, under Interim head coach James Odoch, have won three consecutive league games beating Police FC, Sc Villa and Wakiso Giants recently.

Back at home in Wankuluku, they will be targeting more three points in a bid to finish up in a better position this season.

Speaking ahead of the game, Interim head coach James Odoch anticipates a tough contest but insists that their target is to finish up in a better position this season.

“We have been working on a few issues ahead of our game against Onduparaka FC on Friday like our defence because we’ve been conceding unnecessarily especially in our last three games but atleast we’ve tried to work on it.

“Friday’s game is abit challenging because Onduparaka FC have done well against us on previous occasions, we’re also aware that Mohammed Shaban has been scoring so we’ve prepared well to ensure he doesn’t score. Our target remains finishing in the top four and we can only do that by winning games,” he told the club’s media on Thursday.

With fives games to end the season, Express who are now far from taking the big prize will have all eyes on ending the season on a high note starting with Friday’s game at home.

Onduparaka captain Shaban Muhammad

Meanwhile, Onduparaka on the other hand will be targeting a fifth consecutive win in the league when they take a visit to Wankulukuku.

The Caterpillars have won four games on the bounce, in a bid to run away from the danger area. They beat Mbarara City 1-0 at home, picked a 2-1 away win against Wakiso Giants before thrashing Police FC 4-1 at Lugogo.

They come into Friday’s contest having beaten SC Villa 1-0 in Arua recently, thanks to Muhammad Shaban’s strike.

But on 30 points in the 9th position, Onduparaka are just six points above safety with six games to go and will be hoping for a positive result at Wankulukuku to avoid dropping to the danger zone.

Captain Muhammad Shaban, who has scored four goals in his last two league games will once again be expected to lift up his side on Friday.

On Friday, goalkeeper Mathias Muwanga, who won the League title with Express last season will be facing his former pay bosses.

The reverse fixture saw a 1-all draw between the two sides in a game held last in November in Arua. Shaban Muhammad scored for Onduparaka that day while Godfrey Lwesibawa scored for Express as they picked a point away from home.

Stats
Express are seated 6th with 42 points after 25 games so far in the season.

They have won three and drawn two in their last five league games.

Onduparaka are currently 9th with 30 points after 24 games.

They have won four and drawn once in the last five league outings.
