Preview: UPDF out to hit the final nail in Tooro United coffin

A win for UPDF will officially confirm Tooro United relegation to the FUFA Big League.

The visitors, rock bottom with 10 points after 25 games, are 14 points adrift of safety and have 15 points to fight for in the remaining five games! Any slip will completely end their little survival hopes.

On the other hand, the Army side won’t afford to slip in-front of their fans who are yet to witness a home victory in the second round.

UPDF will also be eyeing a double over Tooro United after their victory in the first round.

In the reverse fixture, UPDF were 4-2 winners at Buhinga Stadium, courtesy of Ivan Ahimbisibwe brace from the spot, Yiga Frank and Kigozi Ambrose for UPDF while Hussein Mwanje with a brace for the hosts from the spot.

There is now less pressure on Brian Ssenyondo, for now, as they come into this one after a 2-0 victory over Busoga United in their last game which was held at Kakindu stadium.

Midfielders Adriko Rogers and Ibrahim Wammanah inspired the Army side to victory.

Speaking ahead of the game, UPDF Top scorer Ivan Ahimbisibwe says they are motivated and ready to win the game.

“We are playing Tooro United tomorrow (Tuesday) we expect a very good game, we respect them its a very good club but we have prepared well for this Match-day,” states Ahimbisibwe on Monday.

“We are home and we are motivated by the last win because we were away and even got the maximum points”.

“Now that we shall be home, we have prepared very well and players are in a good mood, we are really looking forward to winning the game”.

Coming into this game, Tooro United lost their last game 2-1 to Bright Stars at the Buhinga Stadium.

Emmanuel Loki and Derrick Ngoobi scored for the visitors while Apollo Kagogwe was on target for the hosts.

Tooro United will be wary of their poor records away from home that have seen them winless this season with just a draw (2-2 against Express).
