Makerere University Business School (MUBS) eased past University of Kisubi (UniK) with comfortable 2-0 victory to get their UFL campaign underway at the Kisubi Arena.
Stuart Magumba and Sharif Ssegendo first half goals inspired MUBS to a bright start.
The 2014 and 2015 champions start on high as they hope to add the third title.
The visitors had their intentions known when they took an early lead in the 6th minute through Stuart Magumba header at the near post after a great run by Nazar Benjamin from the wing.
The goalscorer was looking lively in the opening exchanges this time finding Kasinga whose cross was cleared by the host’s defense.
Witaikire had his shot deflected wide after the visitors won the ball in the opponent’s half.
UniK’s rare chance fell to Kalanzi but his long range strike was off target.
Kasinga forced Mulindwa into a decent save with a powerful shot that was palmed away by the Goalkeeper as the visitors looked for the second goal.
The host’s couldn’t sit back for long after Kateregga was denied by Kamugisha with a vital toe on the ball.
In the 42nd minute, Kasinga found Sharif Ssegendo and the forward made a long range strike from the edge of the box to double the visitor’s lead.
Going into the break, MUBS were two goals up.
MUBS started the second half from were they ended the first, Magumba could have made it three but his attempt was punched away by Mulindwa after getting behind the UniK defense.
Mulindwa was once again called into action with a brilliant save to keep out Seguya’s strike off Kasinga cross.
UniK could have pulled one back but Opio could only put the ball wide from Ssembatya delivery.
UniK once again survived after Otuke header went wide before Magumba’s shot was blocked off Ssengendo cross.
MUBS are top of Group B with 3 points after one match while University of Kisubi are bottom without a point.
