Vipers SC head coach Robertinho Oliveira and Bul FC Simon Peter Oketch were named the best Coach and Player of the month of March respectively at the Pilsner monthly awards.
These awards were revealed on Wednesday during an event held at the Kati Kati restaurant.
Vipers media officer Kenneth Muwanga represented Oliveira who couldn’t make it on the day.
To win this accolade, Oliveira beat off competition from URA’s Sam Timbe and Arua Hill’s Livingstone Mbabazi.
The award is Oliveira’s second, having won the first in December last year.
In the previous month of March, the Brazilian gaffer guided Vipers to two wins in the three league games held that month. Vipers are currently on top of the log, with 55 points following their win over URA on Tuesday.
Upon receiving the accolade, Muwanga attributed the success to team work at the Kitende based side.
“We thank God that he has won it the second time. I come on a short notice because the coach couldn’t make it here after yesterday’s game away to URA. The coach got a problem as he was getting to his house and so he couldn’t make it here. This success has come through hard work everyone is putting in at the club, Muwanga told the pressmen on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, Bul’s Simon Peter Oketch won the player of the month accolade as he beat off competition from his teammate Karim Ndugwa and Arua Hill’s Rashid Kawawa.
In the past month of March, Oketch scored three goals in the five League games he played, notably meeting a brace as his side beat UPDF 5-1 at home.
The Pilsner awards are the organised at the start of every New month and are given out to the best player and coach in the previous month, with the winners walking away with shs 1M and a plaque courtesy of Pilsner Lager.
