Busoga United 0-2 UPDF

Mbarara City FC beat Visiting Police FC 3-0, to restore their slim survival chances in their UPL match played at Kakyeka Stadium Mbarara

Gadifi Kacancu, Sadat Nsubuga and Henry Musisi scored the three goals of the game as the Ankole Lions comfortably recorded their first league win of year 2022 and their first in 15 matches.

On the other side, its a third straight loss inflicted on Police, a result which drags them back to intense relegation calculations.

The Cops now find themselves just two points above red zone, still in 13th, just above Mbarara City who now moved to 14th with 22 points.

Mbarara didn’t give visitors any kind of breathing space and in just 10 minutes into play, Tom Ikara was called into action with a brilliant save to deny Jude Ssemugabi the opener on his return from the injury.

The Ankole Lions upped pressure and at half an hour mark, Kacancu handed them the lead when he sent Ikara the wrong way from a spot kick following Tony Kiwalazi foul on Henry Kitegenyi.

Few minutes later Kitegenyi and Ssemugabi again had chances to double the lead but again Ikara pulled back to back saves to deny their attempt as the first half ended 1-0 in Ankole Lion favour.

Hosts picked from where they left from and just five minutes after the restart, Nsubuga made it 2-0, from a well driven cross from Kitegenyi who had capitalized on kiwalazi lost possession.

Again in 65th minute, Ssemugabi had a chance after being set by Kacancu inside the area, but his shot went far wide

Abdullah Mubiru tried to exchange his tactics with a double substitution of Emmanuel Mugume and Odong who came in for Nawejje and Ssozi but there was little they could do to angry lions of Ankole.

With two minutes left to play, substitute Musisi put it to bed for hosts when he placed a fine finish onto Okwalinga’s assist.

Mbarara will visit wounded and another relegation threatened Villa SC in their next fixture on Tuesday 19, while police will host wounded URA in their next fixture on Friday 23rd,
