Pilsner UPL Awards: BUL FC duo Up for Player of the Month

BUL FC duo of Simon Peter Oketch and forward Karim Ndugwa have been norminated for the player of March award in the Pilsner UPL monthly awards.

The other player on this three man list is Arua Hill’s Rashid Kawawa.

The BUL pair were in rich form in the previous month at the Jinja based side and being nominated was inevitable.

Ndugwa, who joined the Alex Isabirye coached side in the January transfer window scored two goals, one coming against UPDF and that late equaliser against Busoga United in the Jinja derby to help his side keep up in the top four race.

Youngster Oketch scored three goals, notably netting a brace against UPDF in their 5 -1 win at Kyabazinga Stadium last month.

Kawawa netted three goals, all coming in one game against Wakiso Giants in their 4-2 win at home in Barifa.

Meanwhile, URA FC’s Sam Timbe, Vipers SC Roberto Oliveira and Arua Hill head coach Livingstone Mbabazi have been norminated for the coach of the month.

Timbe guided URA to two wins and three draws in the five League games played last month. They are currently third on the log, with 43 points after 24 games. He will fancy his chances to win this one again, having won it in the previous month of February.

Oliveira on the other hand guided Vipers to two wins and lost only once against Tooro United. However, despite their loss to Tooro, Vipers were later awarded three points and three goals by the Fufa competitions department having won a petition after Tooro fielded un eligible player. The Venoms are still on top of the table with 52 Points after 22 games.

Arua Hill’s Mbabazi also joins the three man list for the first time this season. He saw his side register two wins and three draws in the month of February. They are currently in the 6th position with 39 points.

URA duo of Steven Mukwala and head coach Sam Timbe won the player and Coach of the month accolades respectively in the previous month of February.

The Pilsner awards are organised at the start of every New month and are given out to the best player and coach in the previous month, with the winners walking away with Sh1m and a plaque courtesy of Pilsner Lager.
