Newly promoted Livingstone started their Men’s Division One adventure with a deserved 64-42 win over Diamonds in the Sun.
This, was one of the five games played on Friday as the FUBA Lower Division Leagues finally got underway at YMCA court in Wandegeya.
Livingstone who beat Miracle Eagles 2-1 in the best of three finals in Men’s Division Two to earn promotion in December last year, extended their form to the second division of Uganda’s basketball hierarchy.
They showed no signs of nervousness and played with great composure and conviction throughout against a rather more experienced Diamonds side.
Livingstone led the first half 27-19 and never looked back in a game they drilled in 10 three pointers and outrebounded Diamonds 44-36 to get off the mark on first attempt and in style.
Bravo Kalibara scored a game high 27 points while Okot Bismarck Omoya contributed a brilliant 12 points and 11 rebounds double double on a day to remember.
Livingstone gallantly limited all Diamonds in the Sun players to below-8 points, with Davis Niwandida scoring a team-high 7 points.
Elsewhere, last year’s beaten semi finalists RezLife eased past YMCA Hamsters with a convincing 71-52 win thanks to huge contribution from Emmanuel Okot who garnered a game high 27 points.
Two-time NBL Champions Nkumba Marines showed that they want to return to top flight when they beat Bushcourt 80-58, with Isaiah Mulumba and Mayep Majok both hitting 15 points.
Lower Division action continues on Saturday with games at YMCA and KIU courts.
