Gulu University vs Kampala University, Gulu
Kampala University kickoff their University Football League campaign away to Gulu University as they hope to add on to their two titles.
Kampala University won the title in 2013 and 2016 while Gulu University will be hunting for their maiden trophy.
Gulu University and Kampala University are in Group E alongside Uganda Martyrs Nkozi and Ndejje University.
Speaking ahead of the game, Kampala University Assistant Coach Simon Peter Okot anticipates a tough game but thinks they will pick all the three points though the fitness levels of the players are still low.
“We have been preparing for this game but as you know most of the players are still down due to the lock down and their bodies are low,” said Ojok.
University Football League only permits players from the Regional League and below and those lower leagues resumed late last year after almost two years.
“Some of them were not active, leagues took long to resume so it means fitness levels of the players was too low”.
“Some of the universities resumed late and some students got some financial challenges and the some of the freshers delayed to join so it hindered their fitneses in the level of playing this competitive tournament”.
“We as Kampala University, we have tried so hard, I won’t say we are not ready, we are good to go and we shall play Gulu, they have been our regular opponents we played them a number of times though its not always an easy game in Gulu but we shall try our best because we are always champions”.
“So we are going to Gulu expecting to get a win in all possible ways, we shall do everything we can to see that the players try to implement what we gave them so that we can come back with all the maximum points.”
