Shaban Muhammad Stars as Onduparaka put four past Police

Friday 8th April
Police 1-4 Onduparaka

Onduparaka registered a massive 4-1 win against Police FC in a league game held at the Omondi Stadium in Lugogo on Friday.

A hat-trick from Skipper Muhammad Shaban and one goal from Emmanuel Okech were enough as the Caterpillars picked a deserved victory away from home.

Juma Balinya scored the only goal from the Spot as the Cops lost on the day.

It was a spirited performance from Onduparaka and a third win in a row and they now move to the 9th position with 27 points.

For Police FC, it is a big blow in their bid to beat up relegation as they now drop to the 13th position and remain with 24 points after 24 games in the season.

Shaban put the Visitors ahead in the 22nd minute after collecting from Mansoor Safi’s pass to slot in home past a helpless Police goalkeeper Tom Ikara.

With a goal ahead, Onduparaka looked more lively going forward and they could have scored more before the break but Norman Ojik missed twice when infront of goal.

For the hosts Police, they looked blunt on many occasions in the final third as they barely threatened a well organised Onduparaka defence.

At the restart of the second stanza, Juma Balinya had a chance to level matters earlier but the forward headed wide a well delivered cross from Emmanuel Mugume.

Police continued their search for the equaliser and it paid off in the 65th minute through Balinya, who scored from the Spot after Duncan Sseninde was brought down in the area.

However, Onduparaka restored their lead four minutes through Shaban, who went past goalkeeper Tom Ikara to score in an empty net.

With a goal down once again, Police tried to make a come back but failed to break a well organised Onduparaka side.

Onduparaka, who were a goal ahead remained calm and composed and waited to catch the hosts at the break.

And with seven minutes to play, Shaban made it three with a fine finish off a well laid pass from substitute Jarieko James. He now takes his season tally to 12 goals in the league.

In added time, Oketch put the icing on the cake, slotting in home off a another pass from Jarieko to sum up a good outing for the Caterpillars.

Victory ensured that Onduparaka lightened up their survival hopes and they move to the 9th position with 27 points after 23 games so far.

For Police FC, it was a poor day in office and they drop to the 13 position with 24 points and are just three points above safety with only six games left on their menu.
