•Bright Stars 1-1 Arua Hill
Striker Anwar Ntege scored an unimaginable header as Busoga United held sinking Bright Stars at Kavumba.
The goal cancelled out Joseph Janjali’s opener to deny Bright Stars needed maximum points.
Ntege’s header from outside the box and his effort looped over goalkeeper Simon Tamale who had already moved steps off his line.
The Hosts had a good start when Ibrahim Kasinde picked Janjali who showed great composure and calmness to slot the ball into the net after 22 minutes.
The result makes Bright Stars’ journey to safety more harder after dropping yet more points at home.
This a second successive draw result at home, which denied them a chance to reduce the relegation gap to just a point with a game in hand.
Its not all rosy for Busoga United but a point picked at Kavumba will be something they can build on to secure their place in the league next season.
Leading 1-0, Bright Stars had a quick chance to double their lead but Kasinde fired his free header over the bar.
And Captain Nelson Senkatuuka, with a goal keeper to beat, failed to beat Andrew Ssekandi as another brilliant chance was put to waste.
In the 37th minute, Ntege levelled matters with a long range that elevated from the edge of hosts’ box as the first stanza ended at one a piece.
Busoga will feel robbed after referee Rajab Bakasambe denied them a penalty following Derrick Ngobi’s hand ball in the penalty area at the stroke of half time.
It was quite an eventful start to the second stanza for the hosts which saw what would be their two goals cleared off the line inside the opening 10 minutes of the half, Kintu cleared Kasinde’s effort before Derrick Basoga headed off Janjali’s attempt.
Earlier in the 50th, Ssekandi was very spot on when he pushed out Ssenkantuuka’s brilliant free kick to again keep his side into the game.
Again Janjali with another chance in 62nd minute but his free header off Odongo’s corner kick was directed few inches over the bar.
A point saw Bright stars who still have a game in hand reducing the relegation gap to 3 point having gone on 21 points from 23 games, however they are still stuck in 14th position.
Busoga United have climbed to 11th with 26 points.
