She Corporates picked a vital point in their quest for the title this season after a 2-2 draw against Kampala Queens on Saturday.
Captain Naume Nagadya scored with eight minutes to play to ensure that the Sharks avoided defeat at Kabojja.
Resty Nanziri had earlier on put Kampala Queens ahead before She Corporates Phionah Nabbumba levelled matters moments later.
But Zainah Nandede made it two to ensure that the Queens were ahead before the break.
The draw is an advantage for She Corporates as they remain five points clear on the top and are still unbeaten after the end of the first round.
For Kampala Queens, it was a disappointing day for them in their quest to close up the gap at the top. They remain in the second position with 16 points after nine games and are still five below current leaders She Corporates.
Nanziri put the Kampala Queens ahead in the 6th minute of the game, heading in a home off a well delivered corner from Margret Kunihira.
However, their lead didn’t last for long as Nabbumba levelled matters four minutes later, scoring from a well taken free kick that beat Queens goalkeeper Prima Mugidde.
Despite conceding, Kampala Queens remained composed and launched various attacks through wingers Margret Kunihira and Zainah Nandede.
And in the 32nd minute, Nandede restored her side’s lead, heading in home off a well delivered free kick from Shamirah Naluggya to ensure that they were ahead before half time.
In the second stanza, the hosts had the biggest lions shares of the ball but failed to add on their tally on the day.
Throughout, She Corporates winger Atim Susan made endless runs on the right flunk and caused a lot of troubles to the Queens defence.
The Visitors, who where a goal down remained calm, continued to press Kampala Queens defence and it looked like they could score at any time.
And finally with eight minutes to play, Nagadya capitalized from a poor clearance by Kampala Queens defence to send left weak an effort that beat goalkeeper Prima Mugidde who looked shaky throughout the entire game.
She Corporates will feel proud for picking up a needed point in their quest to take this year’s trophy. They remain on top and move to 21 points.
For Kampala Queens, it is a big blow in their quest for this year’s trophy and they remain in the second position with 16 points, five below leaders She Corporates.
What Next – She Corporates will be away to Kawempe Muslim on Sunday 10th April in their first game of the second round while Kampala Queens welcome Tooro Queens on the same day at Kabojja grounds.
