Preview: Relegtaion-threatened SC Villa target maximum points against Wakiso Giants
SC Villa will be up against Wakiso Giants as they target maximum points to ease for survival chances as the sides meet in a league encounter at Wakissha.
SC Villa who sit 12th on the log with 22 points are just two points above the drop zone.
They must pick points early enough to avoid the unthinkable and will fancy their chances against a Wakiso side that literally has nothing they are fighting for.
It looks tough for SC Villa whose next fixtures are against Onduparaka (away) and Express!
Coach Petrous Koukoros will demand a fight from his boys but Villa he lacked consistency this season. They showed resilience to eliminate Express out of the Uganda Cup but looked completely a poor side in the 3-1 loss against URA FC.
Wakiso Giants will on the other hand seek to benefit from woes at SC Villa, who have just collected one win in the second round of the season, to pick maximum points.
Coach Alex Gitta has highlighted on the fact that the Jogoos are still one of the giants in the league but will be hoping to pick maximum points and complete a league double over the traditional giants.
“Regardless of what is happening there, for us we take the game as one against a giant club not only in Ugandan football but on the continent,” said coach Alex Gitta.
“The mentality of the lads is that we have a tough game against a very good side and must do everything right if we are to get all three points which is our target especially when we play at home.”
The purple sharks come into this one with an aim to return back to winning ways after falling to another relegation threatened Onduparaka.
“We recognise that we are coming from 1-2 loss to Onduparaka but by the time we played them, we had played close to five games in a space of 15 days which brought in fatigue but we have recovered well.”
Wakiso Giants who sit seventh on the log with 33 points are also eager for maximum points as they target to secure their safety in the league.
SC Villa have so far collected five points from their last five league games winning just once and drawing twice with one loss. They currently sit 12th with 22 points.
Wakiso Giants have so far won twice in the last five games and lost the rest despite sitting 7th on the log with 33 points.
