Gift Fred and Benson Muhindo were on target as SC Villa defeated Wakiso Giants in the Startimes Uganda Premier League match played at Wakisha resource centre by a2-1 score line.
Moses Aliro scored the only goal for Wakiso Giants from a Martin Ssenkooto howler but it wasn’t enough as the purple sharks succumbed to a second successive league defeat at home.
Wakiso Giants looked a better side on the day but failure to defend set pieces. That haunted them so much as Gift Fred put the visitors ahead with a powerful header off a Nicolas Kabonge corner in the 7th minute of the game.
The home side gained tempo in the game and dominated the first stanza with a beautiful display of football but the Villa defence stood firm as Joseph Kafumbe made two crucial blocks to deny Titus Ssematimba and Hassan Ssenyonjo.
In the 36th minute of the game, Moses Aliro pounced on a loose ball from Ssenkooto as he failed to control a cross from Komaketch and put the ball behind himself as Aliro tapped in from close range.
In the second half of the game, Wakiso Giants were reduced to ten men as Simon Namwanja was shown double yellow cards for committing a foul on Sadam Masereka in the penalty box and later arguing with the referee for a penalty decision in the 60th minute.
The situation caused controversy as Alex Gitta tried to call off his players from the pitch but later Benson Muhindo scored from the spot to give SC Villa a 2-1 lead.
With minutes from the second goal, SC Villa coach Petrous Koukoros was shown matching orders as he almost exchanged blows with Gitta who complained about a foul on Wakiso player.
The jogoos held on to claim a vital away win in their fight to beat relegation and win now moves them to the 10th position on the log with 25points five above the red zone.

SC Villa will visit Express FC in the league as Wakiso Giants will be away in fort Portal to play Tooro United.
