South Sudan National team head Coach Stefano Cusin has called up to 38 players, including six based in Uganda, for the Provisional squad ahead of the Djibouti AFCON 2023 pre Qualification games.

The South Sudan team will face Djibouti on 23rd and 27th this month in Egypt and at St. Mary’s Stadium in Kitende respectively.

Among the summoned players is new SC Villa signing defender Bernard Agele who returns to the South Sudan national team ever since joining the Joggos in the recent January transfer market.

Agele will be expected to be a big boost to the South Sudan team given his past experience as he has featured for a number of Clubs on the African continent.

The other four UPL players are the pair of Arua Hill defenders Rashid Toha and Geriga Atendele, Emmanuel Peter Loki from Bright Stars, Ivan Wani (Bul FC).

Christopher Elly Data who plays for Big League side Kyeyume FC has also been included in the squad.

These players have always earned regular national team call ups and have featured in the past South Sudan friendly games.

Former Gor Mahia and Vipers forward Tito Okello who recently completed a move to Iranian club Shahr Khodro is also part of the team.

South Sudan, who missed out on the previous AFCON finals held this year in Cameroon will be targeting glory when they kick their quest for Qualifying for the next championship slated for 2023.
