Uganda Martyrs 0-1 Tooro Queens.
Kawempe Moslem 0-1 Rines.
Sumaya Komuntare scored the all important goal as visitors Tooro queens edged hosts Uganda Martyrs by 1-0 in FUFA women superleague game played at Lubaga.
The Country Queens who are still unbeaten, had only managed draws in all the five games they had played, before this win.
For Uganda Martyrs, they suffer their first defeat at home and their second of the season.
Its was an evenly contested opening 45 minutes, more so in ball possession and fewer chances created, however, Sumaya’s strike proved the difference.
Martyrs had paused the first threat to visitors defence, but Anita Namata shot weakly and easy for Gloria Namakula to make a routine save before skying away another opportunity up in the air.
In 20th minute, vistors responded when they capitalised on Harima Kanyongo mistake who missed the ball for Sumaya to beat Sharon Kaidu with a powerful finish to send Tooro in the lead.
At the stroke of half time, the hosts missed a penalty when Kevin Nakacwa initial take was saved by Gloria Namakula before her rebound was controversially ruled offside to end the half 0-1.
It was Jamilah Nabulime who fouled Namata inside the forbidden area for the penalty.
With the introduction of Patience Nabulobi, Sumaiyah Nalumu and Elizerbeth Nakigozi in the second stanza, the hosts dominated but failed to create any clear chance to penetrate Tooro defence which had an outstanding goalkeeping display in Namakula.
A win lifted Tooro queens from 7th to 4th on the log, with 8 points and they host defending champions Lady Doves in their next game.
A loss has dropped Martyrs to 7th, still on 6 points, however they still have two games and they are playing Kawempe Muslim in their next fixture.
