Tuesday March 8th
Kawempe Muslim 0-1 Rines WFC
Uganda Martyrs 0-1 Tooro Queens
Rines WFC registered their maiden in the ongoing FUFA Women Super league following their 1-0 win over Kawempe Muslim on Tuesday.
Yasmeen Nalukwago second half strike was enough as the Bright Nyanzi coached side picked maximum points away from home.
It was a frustrating result for Kawempe Muslim who had beaten She Maroons in their previous game last Sunday.
Playing at home, Kawempe failed to break a well organised Rines SS defence but they came closer through Hadijja Nandago and Samalie Nakacwa before the break.
In the second half, the introduction of Aminah Nababi for Rines brought in more life as they started opening up going forward.
They made endless attacks and it paid off with five minutes past the hour mark through Nalukwago, who broke the deadlock, tapping in home after a miscommunication from Kawempe goalkeeper Adeke Juliet and her defenders.
Kawempe tried to stage a come back as they dorminated for the best part of the closing stages but once again failed to find a breakthrough.
Their best chance came in the 70th minute but substitute Agnes Nabukenya missed with just a keeper to beat.
Hadijja Nandago also saw her effort go just wide, summing a poor day for the Ayub Kahlifa coached side.
In the end, Rines held on and defended tirelessly to register their first win ever since joining the Women Super League. They had earlier on picked two draws and lost two in the opening four games and the win takes them to five points.
For Kawempe, they suffer their second loss of the season and they remain on seven points after five games played.
