All Africa Pool Championship: She Pool Cranes Defend African Title

Uganda’s senior Women National pool team, the She Pool Cranes, successfully defended the All Africa Pool Championship tournament after defeating South Africa in the final in Lusaka, Zambia.

She Pool cranes dominated both the singles category and the teams category as Rukia Naiga defeated her sister Rasheeda Mutesi in an all Ugandan affair singles final.

Naiga came from 3-0 down to defeat her younger sister Mutesi who seeds ahead of her in the national pool seeding.

Naiga has now won two titles outside Uganda adding on East African tittle she won in Tanzania a year ago.

Victoria Namuyanja inspired team Uganda in a tightly contested fight for a come back to win 13-12 against South Africa in the ladies team finals.

Namuyanja is the most decorated Ugandan on the team that travelled for the all Africa Pool Championship have won a couple of titles to her name both National and international levels.

The men’s team category was won by the hosts of Zambia after defeating South Africa in the teams finals.

The Ugandan men’s team only settled for a bronze medal after defeating East African rivals Tanzania 14-8 in the third place playoff final.

The next edition of the All Africa Pool Championship will be either hosted by Namibia or South Africa.
