Anwar Ntege On Target As Busoga United Leaves SC Villa Reeling

Anwaru Ntege’s scored the only goal as Busoga United defeated SC Villa in the relegation battle at the FUFA technical center in Njeru in the early kickoff of the day.

Ntega headed home in the 60th minute in the game Busoga United dominated before sealing a crucial away win to leapfrog SC Villa on the log.

The Jogoos, who came into the game after parting ways with coaches Mubarak Kiberu and Richard Amatre, have lost eight games and remain two points above the drop.

Busoga almost scored when Laban Tibita shot pounced off the post before it was saved by Meddie Kibirige.

Kibirige later kept out Ntege’s header after he was set up by Paul Ssekulima as the Visitors kept pushing for an opener.

SC Villa’s best chance for goal in the first stanza fell to Travis Mutyaba but his effort lacked power and it couldn’t trouble Andrew Ssekandi in the 35th minute.

SC Villa had nothing much to offer in the first half as the game went into a break on 0-0 score.

Busoga United picked up from where they stopped as we came back for second half and pushed SC Villa to defend in their own half.

A counter attacking play saw the Joogos almost find the back of the net but a Nicolas Kabonge shot hit the woodwork in the 49th minute.

A brilliant display from Laban Tibita as he exchanged passes with Anthony Mayanja saw a shot from Mayanja punched away by Kibirige to deny Busoga.

In the 60th minute of the game, the day’s hero Anwar Ntege beat Meddie Kibirige to find the back of the net as the visitors took a lead.

With ten minutes later, Ntege almost doubled the visitors lead but his headed goal was ruled out for offside in the 70th minute.

It was all for Busoga United to take as they held onto their nerves to collect their first away win in second round.

Busoga United now moves two places on the log to occupy the 11th position with 20 points moving above SC Villa who drop to the 12th with 18 points.

What Next
SC Villa will now turn focus onto the round of 64 Uganda cup tie against Super Eagles as they prepare to play VEK member KCCA FC in the league.

Busoga United will host Police FC at their home in Kakindu stadium.
